This year's Made on YouTube event wasn't just about video viewers and video creators.
On Wednesday, YouTube announced new features for Ask Music in the YouTube Music app. The feature is currently mainly used to create personalized stations and find music based on your mood.
Now, however, YouTube Music users will be able to discover new music based on the songs they're listening to. Users can ask Ask Music for information about songs and albums that inspired a particular track.
If they really like a song, they can even use Ask Music to find podcasts and podcast episodes featuring the artist behind it or get more details about the track. During a demo at the Made on YouTube event, YouTuber Derrick Gee showcased how users could ask Ask Music who played bass on a track and then find other songs featuring that musician. Ask Music can also help listeners find songs that sampled a particular track.
Podcasts are also a big part of YouTube Music and that's where the new Your Podcast Lineup feature comes in.
With Your Podcast Lineup, users can create an AI-generated podcast about other podcasts recommended by YouTube Music based on their interests.
While YouTube's main video-focused platform was the highlight of Made on YouTube, the company made it clear that YouTube Music isn't just a side project.
