At Meta Connect 2026, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight device with an advanced display, voice and hand controls, and integration with the company’s AI agent, Muse. The glasses will cost $1,299 and launch in spring 2027.
The device appears to combine some of the ambitions of Apple’s Vision Pro with a smaller, glasses-style design. Meta says it weighs 100 grams, making it roughly five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 headset.
Movies, work, and games
Meta’s live demonstrations focused on three main uses: productivity, entertainment, and gaming.
For work, the glasses can connect to external displays and project a keyboard onto a flat surface, according to the company. DisplayPort over USB-C support adds another connectivity option.
For entertainment, Meta highlighted spatial audio, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support, and an IMAX Enhanced cinema mode. The company also described support for 3D movies and experiences through streaming apps such as Disney+.
Gaming is another major part of the pitch. Meta said the glasses will support Xbox Cloud Gaming and the entire Meta Quest game library, giving users access to both cloud-streamed games and VR experiences.
Hologram calls are coming, too
Meta also announced full-body hologram calling for both Meta VR Glasses and Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, boasting that it had "solved the problem of giving you legs."
The idea is to make catching up remotely feel more like being in the same room — now with your lower half included. Between hologram calls, virtual keyboards, and a personal cinema, Meta is packing a lot into its $1,299 pitch. We’ll have to wait until spring 2027 to see whether the glasses can deliver.
