I've never been to Silicon Valley, but based on the trailer for AMC's upcoming The Audacity, it looks like it would be my worst nightmare.
The series, created by Jonathan Glatzer (Succession, Better Call Saul), drops viewers right into the insular world of Silicon Valley, where "billionaire man-children" wreak havoc on the tech world and their families. Among these Big Tech figures is data-mining CEO Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen), who appears to be committing some major fraud in his quest for profit and power.
Other figures in Duncan's orbit include Carl Bardolph (Zach Galifianakis), a once-idealistic Silicon Valley pioneer, and Dr. JoAnne Felder (Sarah Goldberg), tech bros' go-to therapist. Whatever they're paying her, it's not enough.
The Audacity's latest trailer sees these three characters crashing out in a variety of ways and uttering outrageous one-liners. (What more would you expect from a Succession writer?) It also teases the web of gurus, yes-men, and disillusioned teenagers who inhabit the Silicon Valley bubble.
Through it all, Duncan waxes poetic on his mission. "Genius is not about figuring out the solution," he says in the trailer. "It's about being unhinged enough to do something outrageous with it."
Let's see how unhinged The Audacity is willing to get.
The Audacity also stars Lucy Punch, Simon Helberg, Rob Corddry, Meaghan Rath, Paul Adelstein, Everett Blunck, Thailey Roberge, Ava Marie Telek, and Randall Park.
