T-Mobile requires you to pay local sales tax on the phone's full retail value upfront, along with a standard $35 device connection fee per line at checkout. Are these really "free" deals when you need to pay something up front? It's a gray area, OK? Anyway, it's a small price to pay for the latest iPhone (for now).
