Stephen Colbert reacts to energy secretarys deleted tweet

Stephen Colbert presents The Late Show.

With the ongoing U.S.-Israel war with Iran , the global oil market is chaos right now.

U.S. energy secretary Chris Wright hit X on Tuesday to seemingly assuage concerns, writing, "The U.S. Navy successfully escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure oil remains flowing to global markets."

The tweet was then deleted, because that hasn't actually happened, but it was enough, as the Wall Street Journal reports, "to wipe out million-dollar trades" and send the stock market into pandemonium.

On The Late Show Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert walked through the whole debacle in the clip above.

"There's already too much drama in the life of an investor," joked Colbert. "Just look at Wall Street, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, Wall Street 3: This Cocaine's Just Not Hitting Like It Used To, and Wall Street 4: Rush Hour 2."
