The 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday was something of a first for the tournament, in that it featured a halftime show similar to the kind you typically associate with the Super Bowl.
Coldplay's Chris Martin curated the MetLife Stadium show with Global Citizen and he certainly went all out, bringing together performances from the likes of Shakira, BTS, Justin Bieber, and Burna Boy, a cameo from Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) himself, and a special appearance from the Muppets.
Needless to say the internet reacted, and there was plenty of excitement from most corners. But not all.
Watching on from the BBC Sport commentary box, it's fair to say former England footballer-turned-pundit Wayne Rooney was less than impressed with the spectacle.

Responding to host Gabby Logan's question to name his favorite bit of the halftime show, Rooney remained straight-faced as he gave the following response: "I'll be honest, mine was when it finished. I like a lot of them artists, but I thought it was crap."
That clip has now been shared thousands of times on X. You certainly can't fault his honesty.
