Critics hate Alls Fair, but the internet has other thoughts

Kim Kardashian in

Ryan Murphy's Kim Kardashian-led divorce drama All's Fair landed with a critical thud on Tuesday. As of writing this, it's sitting at zero percent on Rotten Tomatoes, although that's notably with only nine reviews, as TV critics did not receive screeners ahead of time.

Those reviews label All's Fair "unwatchable" and "existentially terrible," which you wouldn't necessarily expect from a project whose cast includes celebrated actors like Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Sarah Paulson, and Teyana Taylor. (Again, Kardashian is the lead.) Yet they're all on the right track. All's Fair is a dull misfire, one whose attempts at camp are so forced you can practically see the cogs turning in Murphy's head as he tries to recreate the highs of American Horror Story: Coven and Scream Queens. All's Fair dialogue aims for but sorely misses the meme-worthy bite of, say, Constance Langdon declaring, "There's not going to be a swimming pool, you stupid slut!" or Madison Montgomery's "Surprise, bitch."

Still, for every critically panned piece of media, there's a movement to appreciate it. That movement is already in full swing on the internet, where people are praising the show as fun camp and cracking up at some of the show's most ridiculous lines and acting choices.

So, is All's Fair so bad it's good? Or is it just downright bad? You'd have to check it out to judge for yourself, but might I suggest just scrolling through the show's most scathing quotes on social media instead? I'd usually never advocate for that method of watching TV, but bite-size compilations of these "shocking" one-liners are clearly what All's Fair was built for.

The first three episodes of All's Fair are now streaming on Hulu, with new episodes every Tuesday.
